“Many nations - one family in Christ”
What we believe
These are the core beliefs that our church holds:
When we want to know what to believe and how we should live, the Bible (in it's original form) has greatest authority.
It can be trusted completely. This is because God is its author.
God is three persons in perfect unity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
All people naturally reject God as ruler. This is sin. God holds all people guilty. He will fairly judge and punish them.
Jesus is both fully God and fully man.
Jesus came to be our representative and our substitute. His death on the cross was the complete sacrifice to pay our penalty.
It alone sets us free from the guilt and the power of sin, so that we can be forgiven and become friends with God.
After his death, Jesus physically rose to life.
Each person must trust in Jesus, turn to God and away from sin, and live under Jesus' rule. It is necessary for the Holy Spirit to produce this change in a person.
Jesus will one day return, as he promised. He will bring everyone who trusts him to enjoy eternal life with him in a new creation.
This list is based on the Doctrinal Basis of the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES). A good explanation of these statements is in The Blueprint (Matthias Media, 1995)
