“Many nations - one family in Christ”
Our Mission
Meadowbank International Church began in 2006. Thirty people from Christ Church Gladesville started this church as a way of growing God’s kingdom in the Meadowbank area.
One way to explain our mission is to explain why we chose the name Meadowbank International Church.

Nowadays, church has many meanings. In the Bible, church is not a building. Here at Meadowbank, we don’t have our own building (we rent the Energy Australia facility each Sunday). The building is not what makes us a church.
In the Bible, a church isn’t an organisation. Organisations can sometimes be helpful (and we come under the Anglican organisation), but that’s not what is important here.
In the Bible, a church is a gathering.
Because of God’s love, he has gathered people to himself, to worship him and to enjoy relationship with him forever. And God’s plan is also to gather his people together – to strengthen and serve one another, and work for his purposes in the world.

We’ve called ourselves an international church. There are two reasons.
Firstly, God is the creator and rightful ruler of all people, regardless of race, culture, colour or language.
As we read in Psalm 96, God is determined to be praised and honoured and loved by people from every nation.
Jesus has commanded us to make disciples of all nations.
We read in the Bible that God does not show favouritism, but accepts people from every nation when they turn to him (and we, of course, are to do likewise).
At the end of the Bible, we’re given a picture of heaven, and we see that there are people from every nation, tribe and language gathered around God and delighting in his glory.
The second reason is that God has brought people from many nations to live here in Meadowbank. Nearly half the people here are from non-Anglo cultures (the highest figure for any suburb in the Ryde Council) with the most significant groups being Chinese (13%), Indian (10.6%) and South-East Asian (6.6%). He has given us a responsibility to be part of his work of gathering the nations to himself. We hope our church will reflect God’s concerns and the make-up of our community.
Finally, we’re Meadowbank International Church. Why Meadowbank?
The main reason is this: there are lots of people in Meadowbank who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus.
As a result, they are separated from God. They are without hope, or are putting their hope in things that will one day be seen to be false. The day is coming when all people will stand before the one true God and they will be judged.
The people of Meadowbank need to hear the gospel - God’s message of good news. The Bible says: Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?”
With God’s enabling and in partnership with Christ Church Gladesville, we want to do all we can to bring the good news of Jesus to the people of Meadowbank.
